Fourth House

Sukha Bhava, the House of Happiness, sits at the base of the chart (the Imum Coeli, directly opposite the public-facing Tenth House) and governs the private, domestic side of life: mother, home, land, and the emotional foundation everything else in a life is built on top of. Its rulership by the Moon ties it directly to Chandra's own domain of emotional constitution.

Property, vehicles, and formal education all fall under this house's significations — not as separate concerns but as different expressions of the same underlying need for a stable base to operate from. Classical texts pair 'mother's happiness' with 'peace' in the same verse deliberately, treating early nurturing and adult inner contentment as causally connected.

As one of the four Kendra (angular) houses, the Fourth House carries real strength in a chart despite governing private rather than public matters — domestic stability is treated in Parashari astrology as foundational to success anywhere else, not as a separate or lesser concern.

The Fourth House's classification under Moksha (houses 4, 8, 12) may seem an unusual pairing with something as concrete as 'home,' but classical thought reads it this way deliberately: true inner peace, the house argues, is found not by escaping the world but by first securing an emotional sanctuary within it.
