You Provide the Coordinates
A birth chart is a snapshot of the sky at one exact moment from one exact place — so everything downstream depends on how precisely your birth date, time, and place are captured. This is why an unsure birth time matters enough to have its own dedicated tools: Nisheka Lagna rectification works backward from your chart to your likely moment of conception, and the standalone Birth-Time Rectification tool cross-checks a known life event against seven independent classical timing signals.

Your birth details are handed to VELS's own astronomical engine, which calls the Swiss Ephemeris — the same sub-arcsecond planetary data used in scientific and spacecraft-navigation contexts — and converts it to the sidereal zodiac using the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsha, the same standard the Indian government's official Panchang uses. From there the engine builds your Whole Sign houses, your Navamsa and other divisional charts, your Vimshottari Dasha timeline, Shadbala and Ashtakavarga strength scores, and dozens of other classical calculations — all before a single word of interpretation gets written.

The computed chart data is handed to a large, purpose-built Jyotish methodology — grounded in Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, the Tamil Siddhar corpus (Pulippani), and Saptarishi Nadi. A technique only ships if it traces to one of those named sources. Where a widely-used technique is a practitioner convention rather than a verse-cited rule, that's stated explicitly rather than presented as settled scripture — and where a technique can't be independently verified against real test charts at all, it's dropped entirely rather than approximated.

With your chart and the methodology instructions assembled, VELS calls a cascade of language models — fastest first, automatically falling back if one is unavailable — to write the interpretation in plain language. What gets generated depends on what you've asked for: a full technical report works through every section in sequence; a condensed report draws layperson-friendly extracts from that same generation; and the free preview skips the full generation entirely, running a smaller, faster pass focused only on your stated areas of concern, so a free look never carries the cost of a full report.
